Visual art and theater art activities are included as part of regular classroom activities. All students participate in our elementary music and art program.

Art 

Hello! My name is Ms.Muniz and I am the Art Teacher here at Southgate STEM! I have always loved art in every form, and I am very blessed that I get to spread my love and joy for art to my students and hopefully help them love and enjoy art as well! This is my second year teaching art at Southgate and I am very excited to continue working with our students by helping them learn and refine their art skills. In Art class, students will get the opportunity to learn about famous artists, art vocabulary and skills, and will get to reflect their learnings into their artworks and projects. I look forward to an amazing year with our students and watching all of the wonderful pieces they create!

Music

Hello! My name is Ms. Booker and I am a first-year music educator at Southgate STEM Elementary. I graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce where I played the flute, trombone and I participated in colorguard for two years with the Commerce Marching Band. 

Our class will consist of dancing through the movement of the music, singing to train students ears to hear music lines, music theory to read music and be able to create their own, and learning instruments to enjoy creating music together and independently. The music will be a diverse collection from Classical Area to Modern Times. The students will have a time to show off what they have learned in performances hosted by Southgate STEM Elementary. The vision of my music classroom is to create an environment that is safe and inviting for students to indulge in their creativity within music and expand their understanding on what music can do for them in the real world and for themselves.
