With over 21 years in public and private education, I have witnessed the transformative power of learning. My journey began as a teacher in North Carolina, Colombia, and Northern Virginia, where I learned how diverse backgrounds enrich the educational experience. This inspired me to seek an international teaching opportunity at Shanghai American School, further deepening my commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all students.
I believe that educational growth is essential for a thriving society, and my mission is to foster a culture of excellence where everyone feels accepted and valued. I focus on guiding learners to become compassionate and capable individuals, ensuring that student success is at the heart of everything we do.
In 2017, I transitioned into instructional coaching and subsequently served as Assistant Principal at Montclair Elementary and Principal at Williams Elementary. Now, as I enter my second year as Principal at Spring Creek Elementary and my 16th year with Garland ISD, I am excited to continue sharing my insights and experiences with our vibrant community.
Outside of my professional journey, I am blessed with a loving husband, Fernando, and two wonderful daughters, Chelsea and Maria. I also cherish my role as a grandmother to Matteo and Lorenzo. Leading Spring Creek Elementary is an honor, and I am dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment where every student can thrive and make a positive impact on the world. Together, let’s create an inspiring space for all.
Assistant Principal - Austin Escobedo

Now entering my eighth year in education, I am proud to say that each one of those years has been spent serving the incredible students, staff, and community of Garland ISD. My educational journey began as a Campus Technology Assistant at Abbett Elementary, where I developed a passion for supporting student learning through innovation and collaboration. This foundation led me to pursue my teaching career at Hickman Elementary, where I began teaching in lower elementary.
Driven by a deep desire to expand my impact beyond the classroom, I began my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. I knew I wanted to grow as a leader who could help shape learning environments that are both student-centered and staff-empowering. During this time, I transitioned to teaching upper elementary, specializing in math and science. I placed a strong emphasis on data-driven instruction while building meaningful relationships with students and families to foster a culture of trust, growth, and academic excellence.
I was honored to take the next step in my journey at Spring Creek Elementary, where I currently serve as the Assistant Principal. As I move into my second year in this role, I plan to continue cultivating a collaborative campus culture that celebrates student success, supports teacher development, and keeps equity at the heart of every decision.
During my downtime, I enjoy spending quality time with my amazing wife, Juanita, and our fur baby, Bella. I love traveling back home to Chicago to visit family or exploring new places across the globe. On a sunny day, you’ll likely find me on the golf course recharging for the week ahead.
