GAP 

GAP is our Garland Afterschool Program that serves the needs of kiddos that just need a little extra push for their state tests. They get high impact small group tutoring where the Teacher ratio is 1:4. They also get a chance to work on social skills included into our enrichment portion of the tutoring program that could consist of : cartoon animation, volleyball/ sports, educational games, and also our newest lego/constructs class. The class has about 34 students involved.

Students at Stephens are setting goals and working hard to ensure success in their future and the future of our nation. Classrooms offer focused learning environments with fun, engaging lessons that offer real world scenarios and problem solving. From reading and writing to STEAM curriculum, our students are becoming the leaders of tomorrow, today.

Stephens Elementary is an AVID school. (Advancement Via Individual Determination)  It is Stephen’s primary goal to prepare our students for college, career, or military readiness.  It is important to start with a strong academic foundation in elementary school to prepare students for future success. Currently, AVID strategies are used in 33 of our elementary schools. These strategies are used in daily lessons across entire grade levels. Our goal is to give all students access to a path to success.

Skyward

This new system launched 2014-2015 school year.  This system features a Family Access site that not only allows parents to see their child’s grades and attendance. It also allows them to contact teachers, view report cards and course schedules, set notifications and designate contact preferences.

DimensionU consists of four engaging and interactive multiplayer video games that focus on core skills in math and literacy. Each game is designed with unique features that bring out distinct academic and strategic skills in students.

Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.
