On the first day of school, we see a lot of tears. However, this year those tears turned into smiles more times than we can count. We have a saying here at Stephens Elementary, we SHINE.

This shows freverently on the first day of school this year as one of our Third Graders changed the outlook of a Kindergarteners first day of school.
School can be scary, but when you make a new friend, it changes your life. This new friend, our Kindergartener, came into the first day of school in tears. Without hesitation one of our Third graders stepped up and offered to walk with her to class. The way this little girls face lit up made everyone around smile too. She cheered her up immediatley and asked her if she would be her friend, of course our Third grader said YES. Now, our Third grade friend waits everyday to walk her new Kindergarten friend to class and makes sure she has a good day. This is what it means to be a Stephens Star and SHINE.
