Attendance matters!

Every day counts

Students need to be in class, on time, every day in order to get the most out of their education and be successful. A missed day of school is a missed opportunity to learn and develop healthy relationships with peers and teachers. Consistent attendance is crucial for academic, social, and personal development in students. Research shows that students who attend school regularly have higher academic success than students who are chronically absent. Being on time to school every day helps students create good habits and develop routines that they will benefit from in the future. Let's set our students up for success by having them at school on time daily!

Attendance is required by law

Under the Texas State Compulsory Attendance Law, all students age 6-19 must attend school each day for the entire school day unless exempt by law.  This includes students voluntarily enrolled in prekindergarten or kindergarten as well as students 19 years or older. Unexcused voluntary absences for 10 days or more within 6 months (whether in full days or parts of days) violates state law. This may lead to a court referral against the parent, guardian or student.
