I am your proud principal of the Classical Center at Vial Elementary. I am very excited about this school year because together, parents, teachers, and staff will support our students to reach their potential.
This school year will be my 16th year in education. During this time, I have had the honor of serving as principal and assistant principal in the Garland community. I have served as principal in GISD for the last three years. Prior to joining Garland ISD, I was a classroom teacher for 7 years. I attended The University of Texas at Arlington and earned my Bachelors of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in May 2007 and my Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in December 2013.
My personal mission is to support and collaborate with staff so that we can all provide a high-quality education so that all students grow academically and emotionally.

Hello Viking family! My name is Dr. Daberechi Okafor and I am the proud Assistant Principal of the Classical Center at Vial Elementary. I am currently going into my 12th year in education and as part of that I am also going into my 4th year as an Assistant Principal in Garland ISD. I received my bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies and my master's degree in educational leadership from the University of North Texas. I also received my doctorate from Tarleton State University where I received my Superintendent certification.
As an Educational Leader, I am truly passionate about student success and supporting teachers in providing high levels of academic expectations and instruction. Additionally, I am invested in creating meaningful connections with all stakeholders of teachers, staff, parents, and community members to ensure that our students attain high levels of success both academically and socially. I truly believe that this year will be the best year yet as we level up and continue to demonstrate why THE Classical Center at Vial Elementary is truly number one!
