When is my child's library day?
Checkout procedures
All students are allowed to check out books from our library. We do not charge late fines, but students are required to pay for damaged or lost books.

All classes come to the library one time each week as a group for check out. Students can come to the library as needed during Open Checkout. Open Checkout is available daily.
Accessing e-books
Looking for e-books? We have a number of e-books available through our Classical Center at Vial Library Catalog. Search our catalog to see what is available.
Summer reading
If your student is looking for something new to read, try a book from the Texas Bluebonnet Reading list or the 2x2 list.
Book Fair
Our library has book fairs twice a year. Thank you for supporting literacy and our school library. It is also a great opportunity to volunteer on our campus.
Tumble into the Tumblebooks Library
Tumblebooks provides a collection of animated talking picture books. This resource will teach children the joy of reading in a manner they will love. Garland ISD has a subscription to the entire Tumblebook Library. The username and password is available through your child, your child's teacher, or our librarian Mrs. Taylor. Enjoy these masterfully animated and enthusiatically narrated online books.
Library programs
Texas Bluebonnet award
Grades 3-5 – September – January of every school year. Out of 20 nominated books on each year’s list, at least five are required to be read or heard, to be able to vote for the year’s winner.
Garland ISD Armadillo List
For students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, we will be participating in the new Armadillo books reading program. If students read a minimum of five books from the list of nine books, they may vote on their favorite book from the list in March 2025
Braum’s Book Buddy
Teachers set monthly reading goals in this incentive programs offered to students. Stickers are awarded as the students meet individual goals and certificates for meals and treats arrive as prizes for their hard work.
