I am so happy to be your child’s school counselor this school year. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

This is my  8th year in education and my 3rd year as a School Counselor. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and my master's degree from Lamar University. I love building positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

School Counselors can help students with these skills by:

  • Creating school-wide classroom guidance lessons that focus on academic, career, and social/emotional skills.
  • Working with small groups of students through “Lunch Bunches” to meet specific needs and practice skills.
  • Assisting students in goal-setting and decision-making
  • Providing responsive services for crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and specific concerns through small group or individual counseling

Classroom Guidance Lesson

There will give us an opportunity to meet and get to know all students. As school counselors, we are responsible for a comprehensive guidance program. The six pillars of character (responsibility, citizenship, trustworthiness, respect, caring, and fairness) are taught in the program to help students develop lifelong skills.

The Comprehensive School Counseling program teaches knowledge, attitudes, and skills students need to acquire in academic, career, and social/emotional development, which serve as the foundation for future success.

"I believe that every student deserves to feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their goals. As a school counselor, I am committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where students feel safe to explore their challenges and develop their strengths.

Vision statement

Our vision is to foster a supportive school community where every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. We envision a school environment where students demonstrate a love for learning, treat one another with respect, and are equipped with the skills to overcome challenges and pursue their goals.

Mission statement

Our mission is to empower all students to achieve academic success, develop emotional resilience, and cultivate social responsibility. I will work to provide access to support and resources, ensuring that students feel safe, valued, and prepared to succeed in school and beyond.

What can my counselor do for me?

Counselors will help you by:

  • reviewing your choice of subject during the registration period (February - April)
  • providing study skills and academic information
  • providing career and college information
  • helping in teacher/student relationships
  • helping cope with family issues
  • listening to concerns about friends, etc.
  • giving you information about life and decision-making skills
  • referring you to people or places outside of school for help if necessary
  • being your advocate – counselors are here for you!

Counselors for each campus are certified by the state of Texas in School Counseling, have a Master’s Degree, and previous teaching experience. Each elementary school has a guidance counselor to help ensure that adequate support for helping students to succeed and meet their goals is available.

It's never too early to plan for college

There is a very important federal website, Free Application for Federal Student Aid FASFA that you can visit if your child plans on going to college. You can start planning now by using FASFA to learn about the financial aid process and get an early estimate of your eligibility for federal student aid.

As we all know, planning ahead and paying for our child’s college is very expensive. If you are not aware of the 529 Plans, then we suggest it might be worth your time to go online and research it. This plan offers help in saving for your child’s college education.

Bullying

No student should be subjected to bullying or harassment that interferes with their ability to learn or their safety.
