Meet Mr. Martin
Hello! I'm Barry Martin, a passionate, energetic, and inspired music educator. I am also the proud, new music teacher for Watson MST! I am excited to bring new performance opportunities, as well as unique learning opportunities to our students. Music class is necessary to activate and stimulate the creativity side of young minds. In music class we sing, dance, play instruments, compose, improvise, and work collectively/individually to create performances that represent many genres and cultures.
My personal teaching philosophy states, "Learning music should be like learning a language. One cannot read, write, or speak a language without first knowing what it sounds like."
I'm proud to be a Wildcat, and I'm excited to see our young cats grow!

Art
Meet Mr. Alexander
My name is Micah Alexander and I have a passion for art and teaching! Art comes in different forms and styles and its spark can be created from anything in life. As Pablo Picasso once said, “The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.” Through art we learn about different cultures, races, and regions of the world, what makes them unique and those things we have in common. Art helps scholars to develop decision-making, risk-taking, critical thinking, teamwork, confidence, motor skills, and cognitive ability through creative expression.
Art is also a way to personally express interest, feelings, or the individualistic way we view something. My personal philosophy is there is no such thing as “good or bad art” those ideals are subjective, how we interpret and perceive art and the aesthetic quality provides our personal perception of a work. “Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.” - Andy Warhol
