Meet Ms. Bonorden
Hello! My name is Kara Bonorden and I am the music teacher here at Watson MST. In music class, we will work hard to become musically literate through singing, moving, and playing instruments. I am dedicated to creating a safe environment where students feel empowered to learn new skills, discover the joys of making music, and grow into global citizens. Art is a uniquely human thing that is meant to be shared, and I intend to do just that!
Art
Meet Mr. Alexander
My name is Micah Alexander and I have a passion for art and teaching! Art comes in different forms and styles and its spark can be created from anything in life. As Pablo Picasso once said, “The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.” Through art we learn about different cultures, races, and regions of the world, what makes them unique and those things we have in common. Art helps scholars to develop decision-making, risk-taking, critical thinking, teamwork, confidence, motor skills, and cognitive ability through creative expression.
Art is also a way to personally express interest, feelings, or the individualistic way we view something. My personal philosophy is there is no such thing as “good or bad art” those ideals are subjective, how we interpret and perceive art and the aesthetic quality provides our personal perception of a work. “Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.” - Andy Warhol
