Meet your Library Staff
Our library assistant is Ms. Destinee Allen. This is her second year in the Weaver Library. We are glad to have her with us, and helping your child select their book!
My name is Andrea Lozano, and I am proud to be your school librarian this year! It is my honor and pleasure to instill a love of reading into your students. This is my first year as a librarian. Previously, I taught 4th Grade Bilingual here at Weaver for 6 years, and at other campuses prior to Weaver. This is my 21st year with Garland ISD. It’s a wonderful place to be!
Our library is a space where students can thrive by easily accessing material where they can see themselves within the pages of our books. By providing a diverse collection to choose from, I hope to empower students to explore topics that are comfortable and familiar to them, along with discovering ideas that are exciting and new. I will help foster learner curiosity and instill a sense of passion for reading to learn, as well as reading for personal enjoyment. I will introduce students to multiple literacies, including digital, technological, textual, and visual, and guide learners to find, evaluate, and create resources through digital literacy awareness. Furthermore, I will cultivate an environment that enhances critical thinking and problem-solving concerning information literacy and the learner's ability to utilize the resources available.
Digital Resources
Garland ISD provides students with a variety of online resources that can be used for research and discovery. Please visit the library catalog landing page to check out these tools. If your child does not know their login information, please reach out to me or their homeroom teacher.
Other Online Instructional Resources
Please login to Ready Hub to find many of the programs that your child has access to during the instructional day. Students are encouraged to continue using programs like ST Math from home. Students will need to log in using their district credentials.
Reading Online with myON
Your child has free access to myON from home. What a great way to get your students reading after school hours. Please click here for myON login information. We conduct myON reading challenges every nine weeks to help motivate students to read new books!
Library Policies
Students are able to check out 1-3 books depending on their grade level. While we do not charge students for overdue books, it is our expectation that students return library material in a timely manner. Fees are assessed for books that have been damaged or lost.
Library catalogs
Find books, ebooks, and other resources by visiting your school's library catalog. If you need help with any of these resources, please contact your school librarian.
Online instructional resources
Online Instructional Resources are available to all students, teachers, parents, and administrators from any district or non-district computer.
