The Weaver library is a part of the 2007 campus renovation. We currently have over 16,000 books, materials, and technology resources for students to use for study and for pleasure. Circulation (the number of items checked out) averages 3,593 items each month. Weaver students learn library, research, and grade level skills that will prepare them for a lifetime.
Links to online resources
Our links to all the online resources and neighborhood libraries can now be accessed by the bright green link at the bottom left of this library page. A plethora of information is available to each student through this link and can be accessed at home or at school. Please contact the librarian regarding student login information for these resources.
Pre-K through Kinder students may check out one book at a time. First grade through fifth grade may check out two books at a time. If a student finishes a book between class library visits, the library offers open checkout time throughout each school day to refresh their reading materials. All books checked out one week are expected to be turned in the next class visit to the library or presented for a quick renewal to allow for continued reading of the material. All books not brought back by the next library class time are past due.
Students in grades 1-5 are expected to select at least one book at their current reading ability and the second book can be any book in the library they are personally interested in. Students read a portion of the book at the shelf to ascertain that the level is appropriate and that there is no undocumented damage to the book itself.
Activities and programs
Other than the normal library/information/technology lessons taught in the library each day, the Weaver Library initiates several activities/programs during the year to encourage reading and build stamina in reading such as:
- Book Fair
- Theme Studies
- Read Across America
- Six Flags Read to Succeed reading program
- Braum's Book Buddies reading program
- Pizza Hut BookIt! reading program
Find books, ebooks, and other resources by visiting your school's library catalog. If you need help with any of these resources, please contact your school librarian.
