Library

Meet Our librarian!

Mrs. Dowhin

My name is Catherine Dowhin, and I am thrilled to serve as the librarian for Williams Elementary School!

I've been teaching in Garland ISD since 2016. I've taught PE, 4th grade, and now I’m going on year 4 of my favorite role yet - the librarian! I have  a passion for literacy & the freedom to read. I can't wait to be of service to our families & to get ALL of these books in the hands of our students.

Our Philosophy

Our Library was a new campus addition in the year 2007. We are fortunate to have over 14,000 books in our collection for students and teachers to use for research, curriculum needs, and enjoyment. Our goal is to help students gain new knowledge, skills, and personal development that they will use throughout their lives. Students will also learn how libraries are organized, develop research skills and expand their computer skills.

A message from the librarian

It is very important for your child/children to read every night. As they come to the library each week and start bringing books home, please listen to them read or read to them. Also, please help your child remember to bring back their books each week so they can bring home new ones! I hope you and your child enjoy our library books.

Check out procedures

All students are allowed to check out books from our library provided they have turned in any overdue materials. We do not charge late fines, but students are required to pay for damaged or lost books.
