On November 2019, Mr. Sotomayor was recognized as GISD Teacher of the Month. He teaches Fourth and Fifth Grade math and science.
Mr. Sotomayor works closely and tirelessly with his students to sharpen their reasoning skills.
Mr. Sotomayor shares, "After fourteen years of working in a totally unrelated area, I became a teacher by a series of fortuitous events that, at the time seemed unfortunate, but in time would prove to be a welcomed blessing. Since I first stood in front of a group of students , my goal has been to help them discover the power of learning, especially in the wondrous realm of science. I am grateful for every minute I get to spend in my classroom and hope that I can continue finding joy and fulfillment in what I do...I want my students to leave my classroom 'demanding' to learn more!"
